Four generations in the building industry. The Netts association with the home building industry began with their great grandfather, Frank. The son of a German immigrant, Frank bought a farm implement dealership from his brother Peter and founded the Frank Nett Company in Peebles in the early 1900s. In addition to selling farm equipment, coal, and building supplies, the Nett families involvement with home building began when the Frank Nett Company sold precut house packages brought in by rail and sent out crews to assemble them. One of Frank’s sons, Joseph, was employed by his father’s company. Joseph later co-owned and managed the Frank Nett Company along with some of his siblings. Although Joseph may not have considered himself a builder, he and his wife Constance, independently from the Frank Nett Company, also developed residential subdivisions in the St. Peter area and contracted a number of homes. It was Joseph and Constance’s son William who decided to make home building a full time career. After "learning the trade" as an employee of several local builders, William struck out on his own in 1958. Like his parents, William also developed land into residential neighborhoods. Years later, after being employed by William for several years, four of his sons, Mike, Neal, Lyle, and Joel, joined him in a partnership in 1983. William retired in the early 1990’s, and the four brothers continued the business out of their newly constructed facility on McCabe Rd. -- ironically, directly across the road from their great grandfather’s original farm and where William grew up. The brothers established a second entity, Nett Land& Development Inc., to compliment their growing building business. The company’s goal was to provide building sites for people interested in building a new home. Although anyone who buys a lot from Nett L&D is not required to build with the Nett’s, for those who prefer, the Nett’s two businesses under one roof approach offers the convenience of a "one stop shop". As great grandsons to Frank, the brothers represent the fourth generation of Nett’s involvement in the building industry. PresentToday four of William’s sons, Mike, Neal, Lyle, and Joel, own Nett Construction, Inc. and Nett Land & Development, Inc. The four brothers and a group of loyal and dedicated subcontractors, build both contracted and "spec" homes for sale. The partners currently have four developments underway -- "Hawk’s Landing" and "Sunset Dr." in the town of Taycheedah, and "Pheasant Run" and "The Preserve" in the town of Empire. The Netts have been active in both the Wisconsin Builders Association and The Builders Association of Fond du Lac and Dodge Counties. Mike and Neal are past presidents of The Builders Association of Fond du Lac, and Dodge Counties and both have served as directors in the Wisconsin Builders Association. Joel currently serves as a local director. Nett Construction ~ Nett Land & Development |
